Pat McNally A.R.C.M had the idea of forming a band in Tallaght in 1975.  He discussed the matter with Fr Len Perrem from the Dominican Priory in Tallaght. Fr len at the time was the Chairman of the Board of Management of St Mary's National School and welcomed the concept of bringing music and dance to the people of Tallaght.  After this meeting Pat Mc Nally and Fr Len Perrem became the Co-founders of the following bands,
 
The Priory Youth Band and Pipe Band (Who Later became The Tallaght Youth Band)
 
St Mealruans Marching Corps (Who later became The Tallaght Festival Band)
 
The Irish Youth Concert Marching Band,  (I.Y.C.M.B.)
 
The I.Y.C.M.B were members of bands throughout Ireland who came together once a month in The Tallaght Community School for instruction workshops in music and dance by top instrumental instructors.
 
Pat McNally continued his efforts in the Organisation of youth in music and dance by forming the following Bands and Dance Teams,
 
In 1986 Pat Mc Nally and Doc O' Connor (formally Sergant Major of the Irish Army School of Music Band) formed,
 
Maccon Marching Militaire.
 
The Dublin Millennium Youth Band.
 
The Dublin Millennium Pipe Band.
 
And to date Pat Mc Nally has formed,
 
The Irish Traditional Youth Band and Irish Dancers.
 
The Irish Variety Ensemble and The Emerald Isle Irish Dance Team.
 
The Emerald Isle Folk Group.
 
 
The Irish Variety Concert Band and Irish Dance Team was formed in 1995.  The Concert Band and Dance Team perform at various festivals and shows around Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and Throughout Europe. Our age group varies from 15yrs upwards.
 
The Group specialise in performances of Celtic dance shows along the styles of Riverdance and Lord of The Dance featuring various up tempo styles of brilliant Irish Dance Routines with the live music of excellent concert band musicians.
 
The Concert Band also perform all types of general Concert music.
